Inshop Repair Technician – Laptops & Desktops

Bigfix Gadget Care seeks a full time service technician to provide repairs in a retail environment. Qualified candidates should be high energy with computer repair expertise and great customer service abilities. The ideal candidate must be a self starter with a plus positive attitude and possess the ability to function in a fast paced high stressed retail environment. We are looking for laptop and desktop computer repair technician who can excellent customer service and repairs in our retail store.

Job Description

  • Reviews customers complaint/ request to determine details of equipment problems.
  • Disassembles machines to examine parts, for wear or defects, using hand or power tools and measuring devices.
  • Conducts diagnosis of problems according to customer complaint.
  • Repairs laptop or desktop units according to requirements, using hand or power tools and measuring devices.
  • Reassembles machines after making repairs or replacing parts.
  • Analyzes equipment performance assess equipment functioning.
  • Cleans, or adjusts mechanical parts to maintain machines’ operating efficiency and to prevent breakdowns or repeat return for repair.
  • Inspects units for cosmetic defects and and recommends repairs.
  • Installs and configures new equipment, including operating software or peripheral equipment as required.
  • Reads and researches specifications, such as blueprints, charts, or schematics, to determine machine settings or adjustments.
  • Maintains repair parts inventories and places order for any additional parts needed for repairs.
  • Re-installs software programs or adjust settings on existing software to fix machine malfunctions.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and manager.
  • Provide a high level of technical customer service support at a Device Support Center.
  • Confer with customers by telephone or in person in order to provide information about products and services, to take orders and obtain details about the customer request.
  • Resolves product or service problems by clarifying the customer’s complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution.
  • Meet minimal sales goals for non-commissioned up-selling of PC, tablet, and smartphone accessories.
  • Establish strong rapport and trust with customers.
  • Perform opening and closing duties within the retail store.
  • Recommends potential products or services to management by collecting customer information and analyzing customer needs.
  • Virus, Malware removal.
  • Power port replacement.
  • Laptop LCD, LED and inverter replacement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in computer troubleshooting and repair, down to the sub-assembly level, including but not limited to the removal and replacement of hard drives, memory, modems, motherboards, etc.
  • High level of computer and technology literacy to include advanced Microsoft Office skills, MAC, DOS, Hardware, Device drivers,Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8, 10. Windows Server. LINUX, RedHat.
  • Must possess good organizational, decision-making, and logical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to learn new applications and programs.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • One year of customer service in an retail environment a plus.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent and communication skills.
  • An interest in selling and a desire to learn sales techniques in a non-commissioned environment.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Possess excellent  interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a professional clean and neat appearance.
  • Ability to work retail hours, which may include rotating schedules nights, weekends, holidays and some overtime.
  • Ability to pass a complete background verification including but not limited to: Education, Employment and Criminal.
  • Laptop LCD, LED and inverter replacement experience.
  • Bilingual is a plus
